PE composite nonwoven fabric is a new material which combines polyethylene film and nonwoven fabric substrate by composite process. The core is to break the performance limitations of a single nonwoven cloth by combining a variety of materials. The specific analysis is as follows:
1.Material composition and structure
Substrate: Non-woven fabric (such as polypropylene PP spunbond fabric, SMS non-woven fabric, spunlace fabric, etc.) is used as the bottom layer to provide softness, breathability and basic strength.
Composite layer: Polyethylene (PE) film is a waterproof and breathable layer formed by laminating, spraying or ultrasonic technology on the surface of non-woven cloth. PE membrane has the characteristics of non-toxic, skin-friendly, good thermal adhesion, can effectively block liquid infiltration, while allowing water vapor to pass through.
Type of structure:
Double composite material: such as PP non-woven cloth + PE breathable film, gram weight range 10-300 grams, width 2-240cm, commonly used in medical curtains, sheets, etc.
Three-layer composite: such as PP+SMS+PE film, combined with SMS non-woven fabric barrier properties and PE membrane waterproofing, suitable for high demand scenarios such as scrubs, operating theatre curtains, etc.
2.Core Performance Features
Waterproof and breathable: The microporous structure of PE membrane allows water vapor to pass through (breathable) while preventing liquid infiltration (waterproof) to meet the needs of medical protection, sanitary products, etc.
Soft and comfortable: The non-woven base gives the material a soft touch and is suitable for close use (such as waterproof isolation layers for sanitary pads and diapers).
High strength, high abrasion resistance: improve the overall strength of the material through composite technology, the PP spunbond layer provides abrasion resistance, text message layer improves barrier properties, suitable for industrial packaging, automotive interiors and other scenarios.
Environmental safety: PE materials can be recycled, non-toxic composite technology, in accordance with the requirements of medical supplies of sterile, antibacterial.
3. Typical application scenarios
In the medical field:
Surgical /protective clothing: Three-layer composite structure (e.g. PP + SMS + PE film) with high barrier properties to prevent infiltration of blood and body fluid penetration.
Medical curtain/wrapping cloth: Double composite structure (such as PP+PE breathable film) that combines waterproofing and breathability to keep the operating environment clean.
Hygiene:
Sanitary napkins/diapers: PE coated non-woven fabric acts as a waterproof isolation layer to prevent side leakage while keeping surfaces dry.
Industry and packaging:
Building waterproofing: PE film waterproofing is suitable for roofing, basements, etc..
Automotive interior: composite non-woven fabric has the advantages of abrasion resistance, sound insulation, aesthetics, and so on, suitable for seats, doors and panels.
Commodities:
Composite non-woven bags: Combine the waterproofness of PE film with the eco-friendliness of non-woven fabric for reusable, printable items such as shopping bags and advertising bags.
IV. INTRODUCTION Type of composite processing
Laminating process: The molten PE film is uniformly coated on the non-woven surface by laminating machine to form a waterproof layer. The process has high efficiency and low cost, but it will affect the breathability to some extent.
Spray technology: The PE film is bonded to a non-woven cloth using hot melt adhesive, and fiber optic spray process (such as ITW DYNAFIBERTM) the United States used to achieve uniform coating, reduce glue point defects, increase composite strength (up to 40%) and air permeability (air permeability loss rate to 20%-30%).
Ultrasonic process: high frequency vibration is the use of polyethylene film and non-woven contact surface friction to generate heat, local welding. The process requires no adhesives, has good environmental performance, can achieve point, linear or patterned composites, and is suitable for precision medical applicationssuch as wound dressings.
V. Market and development trends
Market demand growth: With the rapid development of medical hygiene, environmental protection packaging and other fields, the demand for PE composite non-woven fabric continues to grow. PE coated non-woven fabrics, for example, can produce up to 1,500 tonnes a year and are widely used in healthcare, automotive interiors and more.
Technological innovation: By adjusting the porosity, thickness and composite process parameters of PE films, the waterproofness, air permeability and flexibility of the material can be further optimized. For example, the research and development of new composite non-woven fabrics such as nano-filtration materials, thermal insulation and moisture absorbent materials has expanded their application in high-end environmental protection, environmental protection and other fields.
Environmental protection orientation: With the popularization of the concept of sustainable development, the application of biodegradable degradable PE materials (such as PLA blending modification) and recycled fiber has become a trend, pushing PE composite non-woven fabric towards greenness.
